Topic 2: Emotions

In this topic, we talk about Emotions.

The first step to having a Strong Mind is to understand yourself and your emotions.

Having a Strong Mind also means being emotionally strong.

An emotion is the way you feel.

You can have positive emotions like:

Image: A person with a smile on their face indicating they are happy and a person with both arms in the air with a smile on their face indicating they are excited.

You can also have negative emotions like:

Image: A person looking down indicating they are sad, and a person with both arms in the arm with fingers in claws. They are clenching their teeth indicating they are frustrated.

It is okay to feel different emotions, but if you find yourself stuck only feeling negative emotions, it is important to have strategies that help you find positive feelings again.

It is good to listen to your emotions because your emotions can tell you:

  • Things you like or do not like.
  • If something is good and you want to do more of it.
  • If something is bad and you need to stop or tell someone.

Listening to your emotions can help you understand why you are feeling them.

It can help you choose what actions to do next.

Next we will talk more about positive and negative emotions and what they can look like.
